There was a time in my life when I was constantly over-giving — always available for others, always the one people could count on.

At the time, I didn’t realize that this behavior stemmed from a deep longing to be chosen, to feel important.

I was fighting to be seen, to make sure I wouldn’t be forgotten.

Needless to say, it was draining… but I didn’t see it until the pain of not receiving what I wanted — or receiving only crumbs — became unbearable.
