What Inspires You?

Do you remember when employees were motivated by salary, pay raises and promotions and they competed against each other to move up within a company so they could claim the better job title? Do you remember when people stayed at their jobs – no matter what – just for the extra vacation weeks and increased benefits per year or until they could retire and collect pension?

Those days are long gone…

These days, employees are using different criteria in choosing where they work and who they work for. At the top of the priority list are workplace flexibility (84%) and work-life balance (80%.) People want to know that their work matters, that their contributions in the workplace are meaningful and valued. They value being appreciated for their contributions as much as they value their pay cheques.

The “demand and command” way of leading is out. Conscious leadership is in.

Conscious leaders speak with integrity and hold themselves accountable. They listen with the intent to understand and without the intent to reply or impose their way and they do it by tuning in with themselves and the world around them.

It’s time we start to make employees feel seen, heard and understood. This is how we will naturally inspire and engage teams to bring fulfillment and meaning to their work.
